The Oxbow Cutting Academy
The Oxbow Cutting Academy with Lindy Burch offers hands-on cutting horse instruction and horsemanship training for riders looking to improve their cutting skills, cattle work, horse preparation, and overall show performance. Classes are designed for a variety of experience levels and provide personalized coaching in a small group setting at McGee Ranch in Granbury, Texas.
Training sessions focus on practical, real-world cutting horse techniques including cattle selection, horse conditioning, show preparation, scoring education, and improving rider confidence both in and out of the show pen.
When Are Classes Held?
The dates will vary depending on Lindy's show schedule, weather and demand, but classes will be held regularly - ranging from twice weekly to twice monthly. Watch this page for dates. You can also sign up here to receive notification of upcoming classes and offerings. Spots are limited and assigned on a first come first serve basis.
What Can Riders Expect?
Classes will be 4-6 hours depending on participation and ability.
Each rider will receive individual coaching.

How Many Riders Are in Each Class?
The number of riders will vary each time, but will not exceed 8 to 10 participants to ensure individual attention.
What Will Be Covered?
- Work your own horses better and correctly
- Showmanship
- Prepare your horse to show; where and when?
- Picking cattle
- Proper conditioning, feed, shoeing, overall health management
- Working options will include cattle, flag and the Real Cow
- Where appropriate, there will also be a mock show/ competition that will be Judged with explanation of scoring and the Rulebook.
